Perennial Gardens

We take great pride in creating beautiful perennial gardens which provide color, texture and interest throughout the growing season. Our knowledge of perennials hardy to New England is extensive; we select our plants not only for their beauty but also for their suitability to the specific conditions of each site and their ability to perform well over time.

Stonework and garden construction

We design and build a multitude of garden features including:

Patios and walkways
Retaining walls and raised planting beds
Pergolas, trellises and other shade structures
Screening - sheds, small fences, lattice work
Water features

All installations can be custom designed drawing from a range of materials to match the client's vision.

Bulbs

We excel at creating spring-flowering bulb gardens which add interest and beautiful color to the landscape at least 6 weeks before most perennials begin to bloom. Bulbs are available in a wide array of gorgeous colors; some provide fragrance and make excellent cut flowers, and many varieties will tolerate shade.

Annuals

We incorporate numerous varieties of annuals into our gardens, pots and window boxes. Jenny’s mother Patty Talbot provides us with several unique varieties grown on her nursery in Vermont. These include Zinnias, Petunias, Pansies, Salvia, vines, and heirloom annuals such as Four-O’Clocks. She especially loves Nasturtiums, and will have forty varieties of them this season!

Kitchen gardens

Our gardening knowledge encompasses herbs and edible plants. We create kitchen gardens, often placed in raised beds which we design and build. These feature not only traditional herbs and vegetables but a variety of edible annuals and perennials such as Nasturtium, Beebalm, Johnny-Jump-Ups, Borage, etc.

Horticultural expertise and maintenance

The health, success and beauty of a garden are enhanced and ensured by ongoing care as the plants mature. We offer a full range of maintenance services, including propagation, pruning, soil amendment and fertilization, mulching, and spring and fall cleanups. We nurture and sustain many of the gardens we design and install, and rejuvenate existing gardens which are in need of care.
